Well, we officially announced the news at church yesterday morning. Everyone was very excited
We called a few people that weren't there that we wanted to know before they found out through the grapevine. My dad wore his tie to church and they told folks at North Hills. We went to mom and dad's house for our final Christmas celebration last night after church. It was so exciting to see our puppy!!!!! Mom got me a glider and ottoman for the babies room, so now we have to get all of Lance's stuff in there so I can set up my chair and rock! ![]()
Yesterday when we got woke up we surprised Lance's parent's with the news. We had a tie wrapped up that said "Proud First-Time Grandpa" and a sweatshirt that said "World's Greatest Grandma." They couldn't figure out why they were getting some of their presents early...until they opened them. Ann was so excited she cried and Danny was pretty excited too. He wore his tie and drove to see all his friends. They're already planning a trip up in July. I can't wait til we get home, now we can actually tell people...it's been a long three months!!!
We have our puppy back!!!! Well...sort of. We left for Oklahoma last night and our neighbor saw him in our yard this morning. He called us and asked why we weren't answering the door
We sent mom to go get him. She said he was cold, wet, scared and hungry. His ribs were showing and he was really thirsty. Mom sent us a picture of him curled up under the Christmas tree. I'm so glad he's home and I want to see him!!! Our puppy is finally home after a week out in the cold snowy yuckiness and now the world is at peace!
Well, it's been 12 weeks and we had our 2nd doctors appointment today. It went really well, we found out me and the baby are both healthy
We also got to hear his little heartbeat!!! It was 160 BPM, which the doctor said was very good. Lance joked that it didn't sound like a heartbeat...it sounded like he was panting after running a long race. We took a belly picture because I'm starting to show!
So Rusty ran off on Thursday and it is now Monday. I am very sad about this...he was part of our little family. Some of the girls down the road said they saw him get hit by a car and then get up and run off. We put up fliers and called the humane society and the vet to see if anyone had any information. I will miss having my little dude to hold and cuddle with. On a happier note, we should be able to hear Collin/Taylor's heartbeat tomorrow! I can't wait...I am a little nervous, but I do think once we hear the heartbeat it will be more real. My belly is starting to become very noticeable. I just keep telling myself we only have to keep this a secret a few more days!!! It's becoming really hard
We go to see the Huntsman's on Thursday and won't get there until late so we'll probably tell them on Friday morning.
So, we have this adorably cute dog named Rusty who currently thinks he is our child. He's pretty much a stinker. He likes to sleep on the bed with us and be in the middle of everything we're doing and be in our laps at all time. This is normally not a big deal because I like to cuddle and he fills my cuddle quotient; however, we figure with the baby coming, we should start weening him off of some things. He is a small dog, but he's white and sheds like 50 dogs worth of hair every day! We decided that when the baby comes he should just be a downstairs dog so that we don't have to deal with the hair upstairs in our room or the baby's room. This was supposed to be a gradual process, but Rusty got into trouble. He started rolling in some unpleasant things outside and we were giving him baths like everyday. At that point we decided to go ahead and make him stay downstairs cold turkey so we put the gate at the bottom of the stairs. The first night, he just figured he was in trouble so he was fine, although very pouty. The next few nights though, he started standing at the bottom of the stairs and whining ALL NIGHT LONG. This didn't last long...a few nights later he was back in bed with us. When we came home from my parents house from Thanksgiving we decided to try again, this time slowly. We brought his pillow up and put it by our bed. That is where he has been for the last few nights and I think he's starting to get the idea that he isn't allowed on the bed. I guess we have 7 more months to get him downstairs...we'll see how it goes!

We're due July 1, 2009. I had my first doctor's appointment a few weeks ago and she said everything looks great. When we go in Dec. 17 we should be able to hear a heartbeat! So other than some morning sickness and being really tired, I'm doing great. I do however feel bloated to the size of a huge orca whale...I know this isn't quite realistic since I've only gained like 2 lbs. but it certainly feels like I've gained 87! It is getting very difficult not telling anyone. My parents, my brother and grandparents know. We're waiting to tell everyone else until we tell Lance's parents which will be during our Christmas vacation (we wanted to tell them the good news in person). Oh, we also found out that my brother is getting married on June 13...hopefully I'll be able to go! I will absolutely be huge by then
It is going to be a very exciting summer for the Smith family! Lance's old computer room is going to be the baby's nursery and he has already moved his computer downstairs. We actually agreed on baby names (through a very mathematical method). If it's a boy it will be Collin Alexander and if it's a girl it will be Taylor (middle name to be decided by Lance later).
